September is National Preparedness Month, a time to prepare for the types of emergencies that could affect you where you live, work and visit.

The Postal Service encourages you to plan how you will stay safe and communicate during disasters that may affect you and your family.

You’re also encouraged to become aware of the specific needs you may have if an emergency strikes. These needs could include medication, power needs, eyeglasses, devices that you may use and pet needs.

A FEMA information card is available on LiteBlue to help you determine needs for you and your family.

The USPS National Preparedness site has more information on the Postal Service’s readiness efforts.

Ready.gov, the Department of Homeland Security site, has additional information.
