Letter Carrier Matthew Sullivan was delivering mail recently in Vienna, VA, when a woman lost control of the dog she was walking.
The dog bolted, causing the woman to fall on the pavement, where she lay unconscious and bleeding profusely.
Sullivan asked a neighbor to call 911 and stayed with the woman until emergency responders arrived.
She suffered a broken eye socket and femur.
