The Postal Service has released Pickup Trucks, four stamps that honor the reliable, rugged vehicles that motorists have driven for almost a century.
“The pickup truck embodies America’s strong work ethic — the work it takes to transport the country’s building blocks, to operate our nation’s agricultural centers, and to grow our businesses and communities,” Chief Human Resources Officer Jeff Williamson said at a July 15 stamp dedication ceremony.
“They symbolize the strength, ruggedness and grit of the millions of hardworking men and women that have and continue to build our great nation.”
The stamps depict the 1938 International Harvester D-2, the 1948 Ford F-1, the 1953 Chevrolet and the 1965 Ford F-100 pickup truck models.
USPS dedicated the stamps at a car show in Syracuse, NY.
Other speakers included Chief Postal Inspector Guy Cottrell and artist Chris Lyons, who illustrated the stamps.
Kevin Rayo, a casual mail handler at the Syracuse Mail Processing and Distribution Center, performed the national anthem.
