Reminder: The internet isn’t a playground. It’s important to teach your children about online safety.
If you’re a parent, the CyberSafe at USPS team offers these suggestions:
- Talk to your kids about online safety.
- Encourage children to come to you if they see something online that makes them feel uncomfortable.
- Emphasize the concept of credibility. Remind kids that not everything they see online is true, and not everything on the internet is what it appears to be.
- Tell children to keep their personal information private — including the names of family members and their school, telephone number and address.
The CyberSafe at USPS and Department of Homeland Security sites have more guidelines.
