Carl Junction, MO, Postmaster Sharon Clark received widespread praise in the press upon her retirement this month.
“I just love this community,” Clark said in a segment aired by the local Fox station.
Carl Junction leaders proclaimed June 1 Sharon Clark Day and honored her at a ceremony where customers spoke on her behalf.
“She’s been amazing,” said Gary Stubblefield, president of the local chamber of commerce. “Everything she’s tackled, she’s done well — and not just within the Post Office. … She’s involved in every component of our community.”
Clark, a two-time cancer survivor, also was honored for her efforts to fight breast cancer. For several years, the Carl Junction Post Office has been a top seller of the Breast Cancer Research stamp.
Although Clark has ended her three-decade tenure with USPS, she plans to remain involved with local community groups.
“I just want to make a difference,” she said.
