It was a bitterly cold day in Portage, MI, earlier this year when Letter Carrier Andrew Veres IV approached a customer’s home and heard her crying for help.
She had fallen outside on ice and snow and had become frantic, suffering from a broken leg and unable to get anyone’s attention until Veres arrived.
He helped her into her house so she could call for assistance, and stayed with her until she calmed down.
The customer later contacted the Post Office to “make sure that I thanked [Veres] for all he did for her that day,” said Postmaster Tambria Currie.
