The Postal Service introduced several products at this week’s World Stamp Show.
The offerings include “The World Stamp Show Souvenir Portfolio,” a coffee table book; the 2015 eGuide to U.S. Stamps, a digital version of “The Postal Service Guide to U.S. Stamps, 42nd Edition;” and the USPS StampApp, the only official U.S. stamp collecting app.
“Stamps have a way of connecting the world, and now it’s happening digitally,” said Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Jim Cochrane. “Leveraging digital technology is incredibly important to the future of stamp collecting, and increasingly, you will find new technologies embedded within stamps that will have the potential to bridge the physical and digital.”
USPS also issued Classics Forever stamps that feature a water soluble adhesive, allowing collectors to remove them from envelopes after they’ve been used.
The stamps — new versions of 19th-century stamps honoring George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln — were dedicated June 1 by New Products and Innovation VP Gary Reblin.
“It’s not surprising that Washington, Franklin and Lincoln were featured on six of America’s earliest stamps. In fact, it seems fitting that we’re celebrating them again,” he said.
