South Euclid, OH, Letter Carrier James Alford was delivering mail recently when he saw a speeding car strike a tree.
Alford asked a bystander to call 911 and ran over to help the driver and passengers.
A young girl was crying in the backseat. Alford kept the child and her mother, who was also injured, comfortable until help arrived.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, where they recovered.
“Alford was doing what every carrier does on their route, being the eyes and ears of the community,” Customer Services Manager Sabriya Glass said.
