How does Mikah Meyer plan to spend his summer vacation?
By continuing his quest to become the youngest person to visit all 411 National Park Service sites.
The 30-year-old North Bethesda, MD, resident began his journey last week by visiting sites in Washington, DC.
He plans to quit his two jobs soon to focus on his journey, which is expected to last three years. The trip will take him to each site featured on the Postal Service’s upcoming National Parks stamps.
“I hope my trip shows that no matter who you are … your story is one that’s told by our National Park System,” Meyer said in an interview on the National Park Foundation’s news site.
Meyer will live out of a van and spend the most time — two weeks — at the Grand Canyon.
The adventurer wants more than to make history. He also wants to honor his deceased father, who enjoyed taking road trips.
“These road trips are kind of a way I can get those road trips with him,” Meyer told The Washington Post.
