The national scanning score for the week ending Dec. 18 was 96.18 percent, down slightly from one week earlier.
Great Lakes (96.59 percent) finished first among the areas. Eastern (96.34 percent) took second, up from fifth place a week ago, while Pacific (96.26 percent) rose one spot to third.
The districts were led by Western New York (97.62 percent), which climbed 10 places. Greater Indiana (97.48 percent) finished second and Sacramento (97.39 percent) was third.
Scanning allows customers to track their packages and other mail. It also helps the Postal Service improve efficiency and network management.
