The Postal Service expects Dec. 14 will be the year’s busiest mailing day.
More than 612 million mailpieces are expected to be accepted and processed, including a 7 percent increase in packages.
“We prepare for this day year-round,” said PMG Megan Brennan. “The Postal Service is ready to serve our customers, and they can count on us to deliver their cards and gifts to family and friends for the holidays.”
The busiest mailing day also is expected to be the Postal Service’s busiest day online. More than 7 million customers are expected to visit usps.com, which allows holiday shoppers to conduct virtually all the same services they can at a Post Office.
This year’s busiest delivery day is expected to be Dec. 21, when the Postal Service projects more than 30 million packages will be delivered.
USPS expects to deliver 15.5 billion mailpieces overall this holiday season.
