PMG Megan Brennan recently appointed Gary Shapiro as the Postal Service’s judicial officer, a role he’s filled on an acting basis since October.
The judicial officer serves as chairman of the Postal Service Board of Contract Appeals, which decides contract disputes between USPS and its suppliers. The judicial officer also issues decisions involving postal laws and regulations.
Shapiro’s previous assignments include serving as associate judicial officer and 21 years as an attorney in the General Counsel’s office.
Shapiro also has served as president of the Boards of Contract Appeals Bar Association, which gave him its Lifetime Service Award in October.
