CFC allows employees to support charitable causes

Postal Service employees can help people around the world — including their own co-workers — by participating in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), USPS leaders said this week.

“Through your donations, the Postal Service supports charities that offer life-enriching and life-saving programs,” PMG Megan Brennan said at a CFC kickoff event in Washington, DC. “And there’s a chance — somewhere down the line — the money raised will benefit a USPS employee, retiree, family member or friend.”

The CFC, the world’s largest annual charity drive, allows federal employees to donate to more than 20,000 nonprofit organizations. Postal districts conduct their own CFC campaigns.

The PMG praised Laurel, MD, Letter Carrier Audrey Washington — recipient of the CFC’s National Capital Area Hero Award — for “embodying the spirit” of the Postal Service.

Washington, a CFC “keyworker,” helps co-workers find charities that match causes important to them.

Network Operations VP Linda Malone, a CFC vice chair, encouraged employees to follow Washington’s lead.

“We have some of the most generous federal workers in the country. Whenever there’s a need, postal employees always respond,” Malone said.
