Sharon Simmons, a Philadelphia District secretary, was reviewing the district’s electricity bills recently when she noticed some major mistakes.
Simmons took her findings to her boss, Budget Analyst Bob Cusick, who was stunned by what he saw: The district had been overcharged $1.2 million.
The district has since recouped the money. The case demonstrates why it’s important to always seek opportunities to save money for the Postal Service, Cusick said.
“Do you need the same size dumpster if your office has downsized? Are you paying the right amount for trash removal? There’s money to be saved,” he said.
