Who says kids today don’t use the mail?
Kindergartners at Haven Grade School in Haven, KS, operate a mock Post Office in their classroom. They regularly exchange correspondence, learning basic reading, writing and math skills.
Teacher Lisa Vierthaler, the wife of Hutchinson, KS, Rural Carrier Roger Vierthaler, says the Post Office also helps the kids learn about social interaction.
The Postal Service aims to help more children learn the value of handwritten correspondence by issuing From Me to You stamps April 1, when National Card and Letter Writing Month begins.
