When it comes to communicating with loved ones, nothing beats handwritten cards and letters, a Postal Service employee writes in a new blog post.
“If you can’t be face to face, a personal card or letter offers the next level of intimacy,” writes Franktown, CO, Postmaster Susan Halbrook.
“You have the ability to hold it and cherish each and every word that is conveyed within it. You are able to recall the person and the feelings that are stirred when you remember what they mean to you.”
One example: Halbrook recalls the notes she received from her son when he was overseas in Iraq. “I would receive a letter and know he was still alive on the other side of the world,” she writes.
The entry, published this month, is the latest employee-written submission to the Postal Posts blog. New submissions are requested regularly.
