Postal Inspectors spoke to more than a dozen Girl Scouts about careers in law enforcement during a recent visit to Crossfield Elementary School in Herndon, VA.
“Our goal was to show them how the Inspection Service protects the mail and give them a behind-the-scenes look at our jobs,” said Washington Division Postal Inspection Service Team Leader Jeanne Graupmann.
The scouts were able to put on protective vests, communicate with radios and hold a protective shield. Postal Inspectors also gave a presentation on Internet safety.
The scouts also received a patch, which was created by Women in Federal Law Enforcement and Girl Scouts of USA to raise awareness of careers in law enforcement.
“As a former Girl Scout, I was grateful for the mentors who helped me explore different career options,” said Postal Inspector Dominique Giroux. “This gave me an opportunity to return the favor and help them realize their potential to pursue any career they desire.”
