The Postal Service will issue two stamps this year that highlight the American flag and black history.
The Stars and Stripes Presorted Standard stamp features three stamps with images of wavy red and white stripes on a field of blue and five-pointed stars. Together the stamps form an image of a waving American flag.
The stamps will be released Feb. 27 in coils of 3,000 and 10,000.
The 38th stamp in the Black Heritage series celebrates Robert Robinson Taylor (1868-1942), the first African-American to graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also was the first academically trained African-American architect.
During his 40-year tenure teaching at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, Taylor helped transform the abandoned plantation into a learning institution by designing administration buildings, libraries, dormitories and a chapel.
The Robert Robinson Taylor stamp will debut Feb. 12. It’s available for pre-order.
USPS also plans to issue stamps that honor the Coast Guard, Vietnam War Medal of Honor recipients and other subjects.
