Lincoln, NE, Letter Carrier Lisa Savicky was delivering mail at a house recently when she heard a car horn and a woman’s cries for help.
Savicky rushed to the garage and found the door partially open. The woman inside had fallen and couldn’t get up.
After calling 911, Savicky crawled under the door and stayed with the woman until paramedics arrived.
The woman, 83, had surgery and spent several weeks in rehabilitation. She is expected to recover.
Her daughter wrote to the Lincoln Post Office to thank Savicky. The daughter noted that her late father was a Postmaster in a nearby town for many years.
“We like to think he was looking out for Mom that day by sending Lisa at the right time,” the daughter wrote.
