The Postal Service recently honored two plants for improving their performance through Lean Mail Processing (LMP).
LMP is a standardized process that helps reduce cycle times and improve efficiency.
Network Operations VP David Williams encouraged employees to submit LMP projects for recognition in an annual innovation challenge.
Among existing projects, South Jersey P&DC won first place for improving the mail-staging process. The project focused on the use of colored flags to reinforce First In First Out (FIFO) mail processing, which shortened processing times.
In the new projects category, Central Mass P&DC won first place for creating vertical placard storage racks, freeing up valuable space on the workroom floor.
Great Lakes Area also was recognized for having the most submissions in the existing project category and Capital Metro Area was honored for having the most submissions in the new project category.
